Gwanak District Launches New Gwanak 02-2 Village Bus Route

New Village Bus Route Expected to Ease Commuting and School Traffic to Seoul National University

Gwanak District in Seoul (District Mayor Park Junhee) officially launched the new Gwanak 02-2 village bus route starting on September 1. This measure was introduced by the district to alleviate traffic congestion and overcrowding caused by passengers using buses passing through Seoul National University, serving as a strategy to disperse passenger traffic.

Gwanak District Launches New Gwanak 02-2 Village Bus Route Gwanak 02-2 village bus starting operation from the 1st of this month and the newly established Seoul National University Administration Building bus stop. Provided by Gwanak District.

Previously, to reach Seoul National University, passengers had to use Exit 3 of Seoul National University Station on Subway Line 2 or nearby bus stops at Nakseongdae Station. This led to persistent complaints from residents about severe queues and congestion, especially during commuting hours.

In response, the district divided the existing Gwanak 02 route and launched the new Gwanak 02-2 route, which now operates a round-trip service over a 9.2-kilometer section from Nakseongdae Station to Nakseongdae Park to the Seoul National University Administration Building. On weekdays, buses run at intervals of 7 to 12 minutes, with the first bus at 6:00 a.m. and the last bus at 11:00 p.m.

Additionally, the original Gwanak 02 route, which operated between Nakseongdae Station and the Seoul National University New Engineering Building, has been renamed Gwanak 02-1. Both routes share the section from Nakseongdae Station to the Graduate Student Dormitory before splitting into different paths. The district expects that with the new route, Seoul National University commuters will be more evenly distributed to Nakseongdae Station, significantly easing congestion around Exit 3 of Seoul National University Station.

Park Junhee, Mayor of Gwanak District, stated, "The establishment of this new village bus route reflects the active input of our residents," and added, "We will continue to work to enhance transportation welfare and ensure the safety of our community."
