One 25-Seater Bus Per Route, Operating at One-Hour Intervals
Connecting Public Facilities, Free for All Users
Jung-gu District in Seoul (District Mayor Kim Gilseong) will begin a pilot operation of the free integrated shuttle bus, "Naepyeon Junggu Bus," starting September 1, connecting public facilities across the district. Anyone can use the shuttle for free by obtaining a boarding pass through the dedicated app.
The "Naepyeon Junggu Bus" integrates the previously separate shuttle services for Chungmu Sports Center, Hoehyeon Sports Center, Sohn Kee-chung Sports Center, and Jung-gu Youth Center to improve operational efficiency and closely connect residential areas with major public facilities. Nine 25-seater bus routes will operate, linking sports centers, libraries, welfare centers, community centers, Namsan Town Apartments, and hillside residential areas such as Dasan Fortress Trail, thereby alleviating transportation inconveniences.
Notably, the routes also include key entrances to the Namsan Footpath, such as Muhakbong Neighborhood Park, Daehyeonsan Reservoir Monorail, Eungbong Neighborhood Park Entrance, and Beotigogae Ecological Overpass, making forest areas easily accessible to all residents. The buses run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. There is no service on Sundays and public holidays.
Each route operates one bus at one-hour intervals, except for Route 7, which runs every 90 minutes due to traffic conditions. Real-time operation status and route information are available on the Naepyeon Junggu Bus app. Bus stops are marked with pole signs and floor stickers, and volunteers will assist passengers during the initial phase. Children aged 13 and under can board without verification, while seniors aged 65 and over can board by simply presenting an ID.
Jung-gu plans to launch full-scale operations in January next year based on data collected during the pilot period, and will also conduct research to optimize the route network.
District Mayor Kim Gilseong stated, “The Naepyeon Junggu Bus is a form of transportation welfare that residents can truly experience in their daily lives. During the pilot period, we will listen to residents’ feedback and make improvements to establish a more convenient and reliable public shuttle bus unique to Jung-gu.”
