"An eight-lane road will be filled with performances and memories."

Eight-Lane Road to Be Filled with Music and Memories... "Festival Gwangmyeong" to Be Held October 3-4

On September 1, Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will host the large-scale music festival "Festival Gwangmyeong" over two days, October 3 and 4, along Cheolsan-ro, the city’s main thoroughfare.

This year’s event will feature a celebratory performance by Han Youngae, who was selected as an inductee into the Gwangmyeong Music Hall of Fame for 2025. Live performances by Ahn Chiwhan and Jaurim are also scheduled.

The festival will also showcase a stage by Moher, who performed "In Front of That House," the grand prize-winning song at last year’s Ki Hyungdo Music Festival, held to mark the 35th anniversary of the renowned Gwangmyeong poet Ki Hyungdo. Sensational singer-songwriter IT'S and five indie bands supported by the Gyeonggi Content Agency will also perform.

A street plaza will be set up by blocking off the eight-lane Cheolsan-ro, where a variety of programs will be prepared.

At the center of the plaza, visitors will find a nostalgic roller skating rink, a vintage family photo studio, and a retro arcade. There will also be a "nostalgia play zone," featuring traditional games such as hopscotch, Ojingeo Nori, Gongginori, and Ddakji-chigi, which older generations enjoyed in neighborhood alleys.

Near the Cheolsan Station intersection, a "citizen street" will be created, featuring various social economy cooperatives and civic organizations from Gwangmyeong City, providing diverse spaces for citizen participation. In the circular plaza of the nearby Cheolsan commercial district, a variety of street performances, including shows by local youth, will also take place.

To ensure the smooth operation of the festival, the city will completely block off the eight-lane, approximately 300-meter section of road from Cheolsan Station intersection to Jungang-ro intersection from 7 a.m. on October 2 to 10 a.m. on October 5. During this period, bus routes 3, 6616, 6638, and Gwangmyeong 01 village bus, which usually pass through this section, will be rerouted.
