Free Delivery, No Minimum Order Required
Easy and Convenient Service for All
Starting September 1, Yangcheon-gu in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Kijae) will launch a food and beverage delivery service using the autonomous delivery robot 'Yangcheon Nurion' at Yangcheon Park, Omok Park, and Paris Park.
This project was selected for the '2024 Robot Technology Commercialization Support Project' organized by the Seoul Business Agency and is being implemented as part of the 'Smart Robot Zone' initiative, which operates in conjunction with recycling collection and patrol robots within the parks.
The 'Smart Robot Zone' is an area that aims to improve the urban environment and enhance residents' convenience by utilizing advanced ICT technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous driving.
Since last year, the district has been conducting a pilot operation of 'recycling collection and patrol robots' within the parks through the 'Testbed Seoul Demonstration Project.' In July last year, the district was also selected for the 'Robot Technology Commercialization Support Project' organized by the Seoul Business Agency, which enabled the introduction of the new 'delivery robot' service.
Since March, the district has established delivery zone infrastructure in connection with nearby commercial areas and secured 16 participating stores, with plans for further expansion.
There is no delivery fee and no minimum order amount, so even a single cup of coffee can be ordered without burden. Each robot can carry up to nine beverages at a time. Orders can be easily placed through the 'Roboitz' app, and the robot picks up food from the store and delivers it to a designated location within the park. Upon arrival, users receive an app notification and can receive their food by pressing the 'Open Robot Door' button.
Previously, the district introduced and has been operating the nation's first 'recycling collection and patrol robot Ant' at Yangcheon Park, Omok Park, and Paris Park. The 'Ant' robot can be summoned via QR codes placed throughout the parks, and it autonomously collects plastics, cans, and paper. At night, it follows a designated patrol route while monitoring the surrounding environment in real time.
Lee Kijae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, stated, "With the advancement of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, we have entered an era where robots deliver food and collect recyclables. By introducing artificial intelligence technologies that solve everyday inconveniences, we will build a smart city that residents can truly experience and relate to."
