The Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment has been selected as an excellent analytical institution for the twelfth consecutive year in the "2025 Proficiency Test in the Field of Environmental Hazardous Factors," organized by the National Institute of Environmental Research under the Ministry of Environment.
The National Institute of Environmental Research conducts an annual proficiency test for 1,340 environmental testing and inspection institutions across the country to verify the reliability and capabilities of their analyses in the environmental sector.
The test comprehensively evaluates sample analysis accuracy and equipment operation skills, determining "compliant" or "non-compliant" status for each item based on criteria such as Z-score (an average score indicator) and error rate.

The proficiency test for environmental hazardous factors includes a total of six items: three heavy metal items in sand, two heavy metal items in paints or finishing materials, and one heavy metal item in flooring materials.
The Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment received a "satisfactory" evaluation in all items during the proficiency assessment, earning the distinction of excellent analytical institution for twelve consecutive years from 2014 to 2025.
Hong Soonmo, Director of the Department of Living Environment Research at the Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment, stated, "We will continue to participate in domestic and international proficiency tests to strengthen our testing and analytical capabilities, and we will do our best to fulfill our role as a trusted institution for the residents of the province."
Meanwhile, following the 2022 revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Environmental Health Act, the Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment plans to continuously monitor environmental safety management standards in child care facilities, kindergartens, and elementary schools, as the management standards for phthalates and lead in children's activity spaces will be strengthened starting next year.
