[Tomorrow's Weather] Most Regions Cloudy with Rain... Daytime Highs Up to 34 Degrees Yonhap News

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on August 31, rain is forecast across the country from tonight through September 1, with mostly cloudy skies prevailing.

While the rain in central regions will stop by the night of September 1, in some areas it will continue into the next day. On September 2, occasional rain is expected until dawn in southern Gyeonggi Province and Gangwon Province, until the morning in the Chungcheong region, and until the afternoon in southern regions and Jeju Island.

From August 31 through September 2, the expected rainfall is 30 to 80 millimeters in the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong, Gyeongsang regions, and inland/mountainous areas of Gangwon Province (with over 100 millimeters expected in Busan and the southern coast of Gyeongsangnam-do). Jeolla regions and Jeju Island are forecast to receive 10 to 60 millimeters (with some areas exceeding 80 millimeters). In areas where showers occur, there may be intermittent breaks in precipitation, and rainfall amounts could vary greatly even within the same city or county.

In regions experiencing rain or showers, gusty winds, thunder, and lightning are likely. In particular, between August 31 and September 1, some areas could see heavy rainfall of around 20 millimeters per hour (and over 30 millimeters per hour in certain locations), so special caution is advised regarding the risk of flooding and rapid currents in valleys and rivers. However, only about 5 millimeters of light rain is expected along the east coast, including Gangneung in Gangwon Province, which has been suffering from drought.

For the time being, temperatures will remain above average. Due to humid conditions, the maximum perceived temperature in southern regions is expected to soar to around 33 degrees Celsius. On September 1, the nationwide morning low is forecast to be between 23 and 27 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs ranging from 27 to 34 degrees. On September 2, lows will be 20 to 26 degrees, and highs will be 27 to 33 degrees.

From the morning of September 1, very strong winds of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour (9 to 14 meters per second) and high waves of 1.5 to 3.5 meters are expected in the outer central East Sea and the northern outer part of the southern East Sea. As a result, a high seas warning may be issued, so caution is advised to prevent maritime accidents.
