A firefighter from the Masan Fire Station in Changwon Special City, South Gyeongsang Province, rescued a citizen who was attempting to jump off a bridge while on his way home from work.
At around 6:23 p.m. on the 29th, a woman was found hanging onto the railing on a bridge, attempting to make an extreme choice in a critical situation.
At that moment, Lee Bogum, a firefighter from Masan Fire Station who happened to be passing by, stopped his car and quickly approached the woman. He calmly engaged her in conversation, firmly held her arm, and helped to stabilize her.
Until the rescue and emergency teams arrived at the scene in response to the report, Lee continued to persuade the woman and ensured her safety, ultimately leading to her safe rescue.
Lee Bogum stated, "At that moment, all I could think about was saving her. Saving the life of a citizen is something that comes naturally, so my body reacted first. I am truly relieved that the person I rescued is safe."
Jang Changmun, chief of Masan Fire Station, said, "Life is a value that cannot be exchanged for anything. We will do our best to respond quickly at the scene and to improve our crisis response capabilities in order to protect the lives and property of our citizens."
