On August 30, Mayor Joo Gwangdeok of Namyangju attended the 19th Namyangju Mayor's Badminton Tournament held at the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center Indoor Gymnasium, where he encouraged amateur athletes and spent time with citizens.

This tournament was organized to promote physical fitness among citizens and to strengthen ties within the local sports community. The tournament will continue until the night of August 31, concluding with an awards ceremony.
The opening ceremony was attended by key figures, including Mayor Joo Gwangdeok, local members of the National Assembly and provincial council, Vice Chairperson Lee Jeongae of the Namyangju City Council, Namyangju Sports Council President Yoon Sunghyun, and Namyangju Badminton Association President Park Byungsam. They encouraged the athletes and pledged continued interest and support for the development of local sports.
The tournament features men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles events, with participants competing passionately across various divisions tailored to age and skill level. The venue was filled with an atmosphere of mature sportsmanship and enthusiastic support, contributing to the festive spirit of amateur sports through orderly and fair management.
