At approximately 5:18 a.m. on August 30, a 9-ton fishing vessel registered in Jinhae and a 4-ton fishing vessel registered in Geoje collided in the waters 1 nautical mile northeast of Yangjiamchwi, Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province.
As a result of the accident, the 9-ton fishing vessel A overturned and sank, but all 19 people on board, including the captain and anglers, immediately transferred to the 4-ton fishing vessel B and another fishing vessel C that was nearby at the time of the accident.
All three people on board the 4-ton fishing vessel B were also unharmed, and there were no casualties.
Upon receiving the report, the Changwon Maritime Police Station dispatched patrol vessels, a coastal rescue boat, and the Changwon Rescue Team to the scene, transferring all crew members from both vessels to the patrol vessels and transporting them to Oepo Port in Geoje.
The Changwon Maritime Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident based on statements from the captains and crew members.
