A Sea of Autumn Flowers and the Longest Y-Shaped Suspension Bridge in Korea
Pocheon to Host the Hantan River Garden Festa Until November 2
Enjoy Autumn Gardens, River Market, and Scenic Views from the 410m Hantan River Y-Shaped Bridge
The Hantan River in Pocheon will once again be awash with a sea of flowers this fall.
The city of Pocheon in Gyeonggi Province announced on August 30 that it will host the "2025 Pocheon Hantan River Garden Festa" at the Hantan River Ecological Landscape Complex for 58 days, from September 6 to November 2.
On the festival grounds, which span 260,000 square meters of expansive lava terrain, a vibrant array of autumn flowers-including roses, lilies, gaura, and globe amaranth-will welcome visitors.
In addition to the autumn flower gardens, a variety of themed gardens will further enhance the charm of the Hantan River Garden Festa. These include a willow tree-lined avenue, community gardens designed by local artists, and a tropical garden filled with exotic plants. Large animal-shaped topiaries, such as giraffes and elephants, will also be installed, offering special memories for children and families alike.
The highlight of the festival is the Hantan River Y-Shaped Suspension Bridge, the longest in Korea at 410 meters. From this vantage point, visitors can take in sweeping views of the canyon, unique rock formations, a vast rose of Sharon garden, and even a salamander photo zone, establishing it as a new landmark of Pocheon. The Y-shaped suspension bridge has also received international recognition, being selected as the winner in the Structural Innovation category by the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE).
Other diverse programs will be held every weekend, including the "Picking Garden," where visitors who ride electric bicycles can receive flowers as a souvenir, and outdoor classical music performances. The festival will also feature a lively river market selling Pocheon's local agricultural specialties and various foods, as well as craft sales and food trucks.
From October 9 to 12, the "2025 Hantan River World Drone Festival" will be held in conjunction with the Garden Festa. The event will light up the night sky over the Hantan River with a world drone light show featuring 6,000 drones flying simultaneously, as well as drone racing and soccer, a drone conference, a world food culture festival, and a camping festa.
Additionally, as a pet-friendly tourism city, the festival welcomes visitors with their dogs. On October 25, the "Pocheon Pet Tourism Festival" will be held on a vast 20,000-square-meter lawn plaza.
To make it easier to explore the expansive ecological landscape complex, eco-friendly electric bicycles will be available for use. A portion of the rental fee can be reimbursed with the Pocheon Love Gift Certificate. For a more comfortable experience, parasols will also be available for free rental to provide shade.
Last year, the Pocheon Hantan River Garden Festa established itself as the city’s signature festival, attracting 300,000 visitors, generating 1.2 billion won in non-tax revenue, and producing an economic impact of 13 billion won. This spring, 160,000 tourists visited the festival. With this year’s Garden Festa coinciding with a golden holiday period that includes National Foundation Day, the Chuseok holiday, and Hangeul Day, a large number of visitors are expected to come to Pocheon.
The Hantan River Autumn Garden Festa will run from September 6 to November 2, with an admission fee of 6,000 won. Fifty percent of the admission fee will be reimbursed with the Pocheon Love Gift Certificate, and admission is free for Pocheon residents, seniors aged 65 and over, people with disabilities, national merit recipients, and preschool children.
