Superintendent Lim Taehee Expresses Gratitude for Dedication to Gyeonggi Education and Positive Growth of Children

Superintendent Lim Taehee Honors 1,029 Retired Teachers
Award and Commendation Ceremony Held to Celebrate Years of Dedication

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Taehee) held an award and commendation ceremony for 1,029 retired teachers at the auditorium of Gyeonggi Science High School (Principal Kim Hyuk) on the 29th. This event was organized to honor the dedication and hard work of retired teachers who have devoted many years to educating students and advancing education in Gyeonggi Province.

The recipients by order of merit are as follows: 74 received the Hwangjo Geunjeong Medal, 209 received the Hongjo Geunjeong Medal, 230 received the Nokjo Geunjeong Medal, 284 received the Okjo Geunjeong Medal, and 97 received the Geunjeong Medal of Merit. For commendations, 38 received the Presidential Commendation, 32 received the Prime Minister’s Commendation, and 65 received the Minister of Education’s Commendation, totaling 1,029 recipients.


More than 800 people attended the ceremony, including Superintendent Lim Taehee, First Deputy Superintendent Kim Jinsu, Second Deputy Superintendent Hong Jeongpyo, key officials from the provincial office, as well as the families and colleagues of the retired teachers, to celebrate this honorable moment of awarding medals and commendations.


The event included a congratulatory performance by a teachers’ band, a video sharing memories and hopes, a speech by a representative of the award recipients, a congratulatory address by Superintendent Lim Taehee, individual presentations of medals and commendations, and a group commemorative photo.


In his greeting, Superintendent Lim Taehee said, "Thank you for joining us on this meaningful and moving occasion," adding, "I sincerely congratulate all of you who are concluding your public service careers flawlessly."


He continued, "Through last year’s UNESCO Education Forum and my visit to Harvard University, I felt that education in Gyeonggi Province is leading the way for education in Korea," emphasizing, "Such remarkable growth in Gyeonggi education has only been possible thanks to the devoted participation and cooperation of those present here today."


Superintendent Lim added, "Although you are leaving your positions, you will soon witness the fruits that Gyeonggi education has accumulated over the years," and expressed his gratitude once again, saying, "Thank you for your efforts for the development of Gyeonggi education and for the positive growth of our children."


Finally, Superintendent Lim wished the retired teachers a bright future and concluded his remarks as follows:


"You have truly worked hard. Thank you. Wishing you health and happiness!"
