Democratic Party on Kim Keonhee's Arrest: "Darkness Cannot Overcome Light... We Will Uncover the Truth Behind State Corruption"

Baek Seungah, the floor spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Korea, commented on August 29 regarding the arrest and indictment of Kim Keonhee, wife of former President Yoon Sukyeol, stating, "Kim Keonhee, who once promised to quietly support her husband and claimed, 'I am a nobody,' has now had her excuses and lies exposed for all to see."

During a briefing at the National Assembly's communication center that day, Spokesperson Baek said, "The revelation by Myung Taegyun that Kim Keonhee claimed to have split personnel and nomination rights 50-50 with her husband, the president, is now proven not to be a mere suspicion," adding, "This demonstrates the gravity of the situation."

Spokesperson Baek continued, "Allegations of Kim Keonhee's involvement in stock price manipulation, interference in nominations, and solicitation of funds from the Unification Church were already serious, but now there are even suspicions that gold bars exchanged hands out of corruption and greed in positions responsible for the nation's talent and education policies," adding, "This is not just shocking, but utterly despairing."

She further stated, "At this point, isn't this essentially a joint regime between Yoon Sukyeol and Kim Keonhee? It even appears they were preparing for the next presidency together," criticizing, "Yoon Sukyeol and Kim Keonhee, along with accomplices including Han Ducksoo, are dividing and privatizing power, obstructing and delaying investigations, and denying the facts."

She emphasized, "However, just like the lyrics sung in the Candlelight Square, the truth will not sink. Darkness cannot overcome light, and lies cannot prevail over the truth."
