On August 31, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that it will conduct motorcycle traffic accident prevention activities for one month starting next month.

The police will focus on 150 locations in Seoul where motorcycle accidents frequently occur, conducting intensive crackdowns twice a week on violations such as not wearing helmets, riding on sidewalks, invading crosswalks, tailgating, and illegal lane changes. To this end, they plan to strengthen patrols by deploying motorcycle patrol units and traffic task forces.

In fact, there were 303 motorcycle traffic accidents in Seoul last month, marking a 19.8% increase compared to June (253 cases). During the same period, the number of traffic law violations, including signal violations, also rose from 25,213 to 26,065 cases.

A police official stated, "For their own safety, motorcycle riders must wear helmets and strictly comply with traffic laws."
