This discount is the largest since the launch of the Haenam Sarang Gift Certificates and is being implemented with national funding support as a measure to boost local spending and revitalize the sluggish economy ahead of Chuseok. The county previously offered a 10% discount at the end of last year and the beginning of this year to stimulate the economy, and has maintained the discount rate with national funding support since July.
The county is also focusing on expanding education for the use of card and mobile gift certificates and increasing the number of affiliated merchants. In particular, demand for mobile (QR) gift certificates is rising among tourists and other external users, as they can be used without a physical card. In response, the county is strengthening efforts to expand affiliated merchants and promote the program.
The county expects that approximately 18 billion KRW worth of Haenam Sarang Gift Certificates will be sold during the month of September through this Chuseok discount promotion, and anticipates that the certificates sold will make a significant contribution to the recovery of the local economy.
