Over 300 Elementary, Middle, and High School Students Nationwide Participate
The National March 15 Democratic Cemetery Management Office announced on August 29 that the "March 15 Uprising Postcard Art Contest," aimed at passing on the spirit of the March 15 Uprising to young people, has concluded successfully.
This year marked the 8th edition of the contest, with more than 300 elementary, middle, and high school students from across the country submitting creative works that expressed the historical significance of the March 15 Uprising. After being reviewed by a panel of local young art professionals, a total of 36 students were awarded honors: 2 for Best Work, 4 for Excellence, 10 for Encouragement, and 20 for Selection.
The judging panel commented, "It was impressive to see the participating students express the spirit of the March 15 Uprising from various perspectives and with different themes," adding, "Many works went beyond simply learning about past history and instead reinterpreted it from a contemporary viewpoint."
In particular, the Best Work in the elementary division, created by Moon Sujeong of Bukmyeon Elementary School, was praised for its depiction of the March 15 Uprising across the four seasons. Meanwhile, the Best Work in the middle and high school division, produced by Hong Yoonji of Masan Jeil Girls’ Middle School, was recognized for its vivid sense of historical presence and strong composition.
The award-winning works will be exhibited at the March 15 Democracy Plaza in September, and some pieces will later be produced and distributed as commemorative postcards.
