The two companies will combine robots with the existing mechanical parking system to introduce a next-generation "Robot Auto Valet Solution."
Hyundai Elevator has commercialized a new automatic parking solution called the "Hyundai Integrated Parking system" (HIP). This smart parking system addresses urban parking shortages and significantly reduces both the safety concerns associated with conventional mechanical parking facilities and the long wait times for vehicle retrieval. Hyundai Wia is currently operating parking robots that lift and move vehicles to available spaces.
Going forward, Hyundai Elevator will utilize HIP to supply hardware and software, plan parking lot layouts, and provide equipment and infrastructure for integration with parking robots. Hyundai Wia will be responsible for the design of related infrastructure, including providing parking robots, control software for operation, and solutions.
Hyundai Elevator's HIP boasts the fastest vehicle retrieval time in Korea. While mechanical parking systems typically require an average of three minutes for vehicle retrieval, HIP has dramatically reduced this to just 38 seconds. With the addition of parking robots, customers will no longer need to search for or wait for available spaces, as the robots and HIP will handle parking and retrieval automatically.
The companies plan to complete the standard design for parking lots integrating the software within this year and to begin full-scale order acquisition starting next year. Additionally, they will jointly develop UX (User Experience) and UI (User Interface) to ensure stable operation of the Robot Auto Valet Solution.
A Hyundai Elevator representative stated, "We aim to lead the creation of a new market in the parking industry," and added, "We will continue to provide customers with even safer and more innovative quality and products through relentless research and development."
