This training program, organized by the Korea Council for College Education, aims to strengthen the global competencies of junior college students nationwide by providing them with opportunities for overseas study.

Going beyond simple language training, the program is designed to help students develop international communication skills and gain diverse cultural experiences through practical, field-oriented education. This includes major-related studies at overseas universities, visits to local industries, and cultural immersion experiences.

Furthermore, the global field training contributes to students’ career exploration and enhances their employment competitiveness. It also plays an important role in promoting the internationalization of junior college education and expanding global networks.

The participating students will undergo a 16-week language and major training program at James Cook University in Australia, from August 18 to December 5. In addition to major-related studies, they will improve their international communication skills and adaptability through local cultural experiences and industry visits.

Before departure, the group attended a pre-orientation session covering a wide range of topics, including: ▲professional ethics ▲workplace etiquette ▲responsible attitudes through self-management and problem-solving ▲local lifestyle, business culture, and communication styles in the host country ▲understanding of Korean history and cultural background. They also completed a systematic preparation process that included job competency enhancement programs linked to their majors, language education such as practical conversation and business English, as well as safety and infection prevention training.

Kim Jinho, a student in the Department of Physical Therapy at Dong-Eui Science University, shared his thoughts: "Through this global field training, I hope to broaden my understanding of my major and gain various experiences and cultural insights unique to the local environment. I expect that the classes and activities at James Cook University will help me develop a global perspective and strengthen the practical skills necessary for my future career."

Kim Taekyung, Director of International Cooperation at Dong-Eui Science University, said, "Congratulations to the students selected for the Junior College Global Field Training for having the opportunity to experience diverse academic fields and cultures overseas for 16 weeks. I hope this training becomes a valuable opportunity to develop global competencies, and above all, I wish for everyone to stay healthy and safe throughout the program."

The Junior College Global Field Training program is a flagship overseas study initiative jointly promoted by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Council for College Education, providing field-oriented global education in various countries every year.
