The Geoje Police Station in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 27th that they had booked a woman in her 20s, referred to as Ms. A, on suspicion of carrying a weapon in a public place and are currently investigating her.

Ms. A is accused of causing public anxiety on August 2 at around 7:23 p.m. by wandering around a large supermarket in Okpo-dong, Geoje, swinging two weapons in the air and damaging a display stand with a weapon.

A video uploaded to the Korea National Police Agency's YouTube channel on this day shows Ms. A, wearing a cat mascot costume, walking around the store and then picking up weapons in both hands in the toy section. She also approached children she encountered, threatening them by brandishing the weapons.

Store employees tried to stop Ms. A, but she continued to approach them with the weapons, resulting in a standoff. After evacuating customers, the employees returned holding umbrellas and told Ms. A to "put down the knife," but she became more agitated and charged at the employees with the weapon.

Meanwhile, the police arrived at the scene after receiving a 112 emergency call. Armed with shields and batons, they approached Ms. A, repeatedly warning her to "drop the knife," and eventually subdued and arrested her at the scene.

The police asked, "Do you have any other weapons? Why were you carrying the weapon?" but Ms. A only replied, "Meow," and "I can't tell you that, nya." When asked, "Do you have a mobile phone?" she responded, "Why would I tell you something like that, nya?"

No injuries were reported as a result of Ms. A's actions.

As she had a history of mental illness, she was forcibly admitted to a hospital.

The police plan to refer the case to the prosecution after further investigating the details of the incident.
