Singer Psy (real name Park Jaesang, 48) has issued an official apology after it became known that he was investigated by the police on suspicion of violating the Medical Service Act.

His agency, P Nation, released a statement on the 28th, saying, "The fact that prescription sleeping pills, which are classified as controlled substances, were received by proxy is clearly a mistake and an oversight," and added, "We sincerely apologize for causing concern."

Previously, it was first reported by the media on the 27th that the Seoul Seodaemun Police Station was investigating Psy and Professor A from a university hospital, who prescribed him sleeping pills, on suspicion of violating the Medical Service Act. According to reports, the police discovered that Psy had been prescribed psychotropic medications at a university hospital in Seoul from 2022 until recently, without in-person consultations, and that his manager had received the medication on his behalf. The police recently conducted a search and seizure at the hospital to obtain related medical records.

Regarding this, P Nation explained, "Psy has been diagnosed with chronic sleep disorders and has been taking sleeping pills as prescribed by medical professionals." They added, "He has always taken the prescribed dosage under medical supervision, and there has never been a proxy prescription." However, they acknowledged, "There was an instance where a third party received the sleeping pills on his behalf during the process." The statement continued, "The police investigation is currently ongoing," and once again apologized, saying, "We sincerely apologize for causing concern."
