Online Applications Open from August 29
Seoul’s Eunpyeong District (District Mayor Kim Mikyung) is holding a Reels contest under the theme “Promoting Our Hanok,” allowing teenagers to discover and share the charm of traditional Korean houses.
The contest is open to all teenagers aged 14 to 19, either individually or in teams, who are familiar with social networking services (SNS) and short-form video production. The application period runs from August 29 to September 26, and the results will be announced on October 2. Participants must upload their videos to their public Instagram accounts, including the required hashtags.
Prizes include the Yongmaru Award (1 team) with a 300,000 won gift certificate and a commendation from the museum director, the Daedulbo Award (2 teams) with a 200,000 won gift certificate and a commendation from the museum director, and the Seokkarae Award (3 teams) with a 100,000 won gift certificate and a commendation from the museum director. Judging criteria include originality, relevance to Hanok, and popularity. The winning entries will be released through the Eunpyeong History Hanok Museum’s SNS channels and introduced to tourists visiting Eunpyeong Hanok Village in the fall.
Pyo Moonsong, Director of the Eunpyeong History Hanok Museum, said, “This contest will be a great opportunity for teenagers to take the lead in understanding and promoting our Hanok culture while creating short-form content. I look forward to seeing the witty and brilliant ideas from our youth.”
