The Ministry of Unification announced that on the 27th, Minister Jeong Dongyoung met with Chinese Ambassador to Korea Dai Bing at the Government Seoul Office and exchanged views on bilateral relations and issues concerning the Korean Peninsula.
Minister Jeong asked Ambassador Dai to work together to further develop a more mature relationship between the two countries, taking the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Gyeongju as an opportunity.
In particular, he explained the South Korean government's policies on North Korea and unification, which are aimed at building trust between the two Koreas and achieving peaceful coexistence on the Korean Peninsula. He also emphasized the constructive role that the Chinese government can play in resuming dialogue and ensuring sustainable peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Ambassador Dai congratulated Minister Jeong on his appointment and expressed the Chinese government's expectations for Minister Jeong's role in the continued development of the "China-Korea Strategic Cooperative Partnership." He also stated that China will continue its efforts for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
The Ministry of Unification reported that both sides agreed to maintain close communication in the future for the development of China-Korea relations and for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
