Police Refer Son and Mother Accused of Stalking Coworker to Prosecution Without Detention

On August 27, the Gangseo Police Station in Seoul announced that on August 25, they had referred Mr. A and his mother to the prosecution without detention on charges of violating the Stalking Punishment Act.

Mr. A, who was a subordinate of the victim at work, is accused of persistently sending abusive text messages and making phone calls after being reprimanded for work-related reasons, thereby stalking the victim.

When the victim reported the incidents to the police and the conflict escalated, Mr. A's mother also allegedly sent repeated messages to the victim, such as "How dare you lay a hand on my precious son?" and "I will utterly destroy you."

During the process of taking emergency protective measures (restricting access to the victim's residence) against Mr. A, the police accidentally disclosed the victim's address and later issued an official apology to the victim.

The Gangseo Police Station is currently conducting an internal investigation regarding the leak of personal information.
