According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 27th, Namjin Dongbuk, Director-General for Central Asia and Northeast Asia, presided over a Fisheries Order Officers Meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Seoul. The meeting was attended by officers in charge of Chinese regional missions, officials from the Korea Coast Guard, and experts in the maritime field.


During the meeting, participants discussed effective countermeasures against illegal fishing, including inspections of the departure ports of Chinese fishing vessels. The attendees agreed that the issue of illegal fishing is directly linked not only to the protection of Korea’s maritime rights and interests but also to the livelihoods of fishermen, emphasizing the need for active responses. To this end, they decided to further strengthen the cooperation system among the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local diplomatic missions, and related government agencies.


An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "We will continue and strengthen diplomatic efforts to fundamentally resolve the issue of illegal fishing, while also maintaining communication and cooperation between Korea and China to ensure that this issue does not become a burden on bilateral relations."
