Seeking Practical Strategies for Economic Independence and Social Participation

The Busan Social Service Institute and the Busan Association of Vocational Rehabilitation Facilities for the Disabled will jointly host the "9th Busan Social Service Innovation Future Agenda Forum" at 2:00 p.m. on August 28 in the main conference room on the second floor of the Busan Metropolitan Council building.

This forum, under the theme "Beyond Welfare, The Power to Revitalize the Economy: Seeking a Paradigm Shift in the Social Value of Busan's Vocational Rehabilitation Facilities for the Disabled," will discuss sustainable development strategies for vocational rehabilitation facilities for the disabled and explore their connection to the local economy.

The keynote presentation will be delivered by Professor Byun Kyunghee of Hanshin University, who will speak on "Policy Directions and Tasks for Vocational Rehabilitation Facilities for the Disabled in Busan." The subsequent panel discussion will be chaired by Park Byunghyun, Professor Emeritus at Pusan National University, and will feature Busan Metropolitan Council member Moon Youngmi, Lee Sangheon, President of the Korea Association of Vocational Rehabilitation Facilities for the Disabled, Kwon Dohyung, Director of Hana Vocational Rehabilitation Facility for the Disabled, Lim Joohyun, Director of Woori Kumteo, and Lee Youngjoo, Director of the Busan Social Service Institute. The panelists will address both field perspectives and institutional limitations.

Yoo Kyuwon, Director of the Busan Social Service Institute, stated, "The role of vocational rehabilitation facilities in supporting the economic independence and social participation of people with disabilities is more important than ever," adding, "Through this forum, we will review policy limitations and develop practical support measures tailored to the unique characteristics of Busan."
