Downtown Transforms into a Festival of Summer Nights
Chicken and Music Fill the Heart of Iksan
From August 29 to 31, the entire downtown area of Iksan City, North Jeolla Province, will be filled with chicken and music as a series of festivals take place over three days.
According to the city on August 27, the "2025 Jungangdong Chimaek Festival" will be held from August 29 to 30, followed by the "Chicken Rock Festival" from August 30 to 31, transforming the entire downtown into a vibrant summer night festival.
The "Jungangdong Chimaek Festival," held along the Jungangdong Culture and Arts Street and Chicken Road, is designed to promote the slogan "When you think of chicken, think of Iksan; when you think of fried chicken, think of Chicken Road," and to revitalize the downtown commercial district.
This year's festival will feature local brands such as Harim, Dasarang, Sevenbrau, and Iribrew, along with Chicken Road merchants and small business owners from the Culture and Arts Street. Food stalls, a mobile night market, and a marketplace will be set up, allowing visitors to enjoy a variety of chicken dishes and local beers while celebrating the festival.
In addition, a diverse program including an electronic dance music (EDM) party and dance performances will entertain both residents and tourists. Special events will also be held, such as an additional 10% reward for customers using the Dairoum QR payment system, a lucky draw, and stage events, offering even more attractions for attendees.
From August 30 to 31, the "Chicken Rock Band Festival" will take place every evening from 6 p.m. at the Jungang Sports Park soccer field. Organized by the Iksan Office Workers Band Association, the event is expected to become a cultural celebration where citizens can enjoy performances by various bands in the heart of the city.
On the first day, youth rock band performances and dance team stages will fill the summer night with youthful passion. On the second day, office worker bands will take the stage with spectacular performances.
The festival venue will include a booth for the local brand Dasarang Chicken and table seating for 480 people, allowing visitors to enjoy the festivities in comfort. Notably, the Chimaek program will also be held on August 31. The city expects that these two consecutive festivals will offer both residents and tourists a truly special summer night experience.
Mayor Jung Heon-yul stated, "From August 29 to 31, Iksan will be transformed into a massive festival venue," adding, "We hope that everyone, both residents and visitors, will fully enjoy the heat of midsummer and come together joyfully through chicken and music."
