Strategies for Efficient Promotion of Rural Spatial Planning
The Jeonbuk Regional Support Agency (Jeonbuk Regional Headquarters of Korea Rural Community Corporation) announced on the 27th that it held the 12th "Rural Charm Forum" on the theme "Efficient Promotion Strategies for Rural Spatial Planning from the Field Perspective."
The forum, held on the 26th at the International Conference Hall of the Rural Development Administration, was attended by over 100 participants, including representatives from Jeonbuk Province, city and county governments, Korea Rural Community Corporation, and intermediary support organizations. Through this forum, stakeholders such as experts, local governments, and intermediary support organizations formed a consensus on establishing rural spatial planning that is responsive to field realities.

The "Rural Charm Forum" has been jointly held by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Rural Development Administration since June 2022, and this 12th forum was co-hosted with the Jeonbuk Regional Support Agency.
At this event, the Jeonbuk Regional Support Agency gave a keynote presentation on the roles and activation strategies of regional and basic support agencies. Other presentations included: an explanation of the rural spatial planning system (Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs); an overview of the KRC Rural Spatial Planning Comprehensive Support Task Force and a case study on rural stay-type shelters (Daolchonjoseongsangeop) (Korea Rural Community Corporation headquarters); designation and operation strategies for rural specialized districts considering regional characteristics (National Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Rural Development Administration); a presentation on Sunchang County’s basic rural spatial plan and specialized district case (Nuri Regional Planning Institute); and a public discussion session.
In his congratulatory remarks, Director Kim Dongin stated, "The Jeonbuk branch of Korea Rural Community Corporation is supporting the establishment of basic plans for rural spatial restructuring and regeneration in 13 cities and counties," adding, "As the Jeonbuk Regional Support Agency, we are working to reflect voices from the field and to develop effective plans that take into account the unique characteristics of each region."
He continued, "We will continue to do our best to establish rural spatial plans based on resident participation, to create residential spaces where agriculture, housing, and the environment harmoniously coexist, and to realize sustainable rural villages utilizing renewable energy. We will contribute to restoring and sustaining the functions of rural areas as places to live, work, and relax."
