Cheongyang County Accelerates Seonbi Loyalty & Righteousness Culture Center Program Development

The "Seonbi Loyalty & Righteousness Culture Center Program Development Project" being promoted by Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province is now gaining full momentum.

The county announced on the 27th that it held an interim briefing session in the county office situation room on the 26th to review the current status of the project and discuss future plans.

Approximately 20 participants, including county officials, experts, and representatives from the project executors, History & Art Lab and Dongguk University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, attended the session and exchanged opinions.

Notably, seven types of programs were unveiled for the first time, including age-specific educational content tailored for children, teenagers, and adults, as well as a Museum Identity (MI) design draft reflecting the identity of "Cheongyang, the Home of Loyalty and Integrity," which drew significant attention.

The county has set the direction for program development as: ▲ school and tourism-linked experiential programs, and ▲ humanities experience courses connected to local historical resources such as Moduksa Temple and Hyanggyo in Cheongyang. The logo and slogan drafts presented at the session also garnered interest.

The interim briefing also included analyses of the life and philosophy of Myeonam Choi Ikhyeon, benchmarking of domestic and international museums, and the results of research on Cheongyang County's historical and cultural assets.

The county plans to refine the programs based on the feedback from this interim briefing and finalize the completed content at the final briefing session scheduled for November.

Kim Dongon, the county governor, stated, "The Seonbi Loyalty & Righteousness Culture Center will be more than just a memorial hall; it will serve as the spiritual foundation of Cheongyang and a space to modernly inherit the ideology of loyalty and righteousness. We will vividly convey Cheongyang's history and culture through experiential content in which children, teenagers, and tourists can all participate."

Meanwhile, the "Seonbi Loyalty & Righteousness Culture Center Construction Project," with a total budget of 16.8 billion won, is being carried out as a core project of the Chungcheong Confucian Culture Zone Regional Tourism Development Project.

The center will be built in the Moduksa Temple area in Songam-ri, Mok-myeon, Cheongyang County, and will include exhibition halls, educational experience rooms, a pavilion, accommodation buildings, a calligraphy and painting forest garden, and the "Myeonam's Path."

It is highly regarded for its symbolic and historical value as the first specialized historical and cultural space in Korea dedicated to Myeonam Choi Ikhyeon.
