The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Construction Association of Korea announced that they will hold the '2025 Construction Day' ceremony at the Construction Hall on the morning of August 27.
Construction Day was established in 1962 to commemorate the founding of the Ministry of Construction. Since 1981, the event has been held to foster unity among those working in the construction industry and to promote the development of the sector. This year's event will be attended by over 700 people, including Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Yoonduk, National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee Chairman Maeng Sungkyu and about 20 other lawmakers, Construction Association of Korea Chairman Han Seunggu, Korea Specialty Contractors Association Chairman Yoon Haksoo, among others.
Individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of the construction industry will be recognized with awards. Kim Sangsu, chairman of Hallim Construction, will receive the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit in recognition of his 35 years of service on major national projects. Lee Seongsu, CEO of Shinwoo Construction, and Jeong Dalhong, chairman of Seongbo Engineering, will receive the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit. Lee Yongho, CEO of Shinsung Construction, Jang Saehyun, CEO of Donggeuk Construction, and Lee Seongu, CEO of Daeheung Construction, will receive the Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit.

The Industrial Medal will be awarded to three recipients, including Lim Geunhong, CEO of Yurim Construction. The Presidential Citation will go to six people, including Hong Jinyoung, CEO of Taebaek Development Heavy Equipment. Six others, including Lee Hoonkoo, CEO of Shindo General Construction, will receive the Prime Minister's Citation. Ninety people, including Jeong Gilmo, CEO of Samwon General Construction, will receive the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Citation.
Attendees will watch a specially prepared video highlighting the achievements of the construction industry and sharing their commitments and efforts to overcome challenges. Industry representatives will read a resolution pledging to eradicate major industrial accidents at construction sites and to innovate the culture of construction safety. They will also express their commitment to actively support the government's safety policies.
Minister Kim Yoonduk stated, "We will actively support the expansion of housing supply, the adoption of smart construction technologies, and overseas construction ventures so that the construction industry can overcome the challenges of low growth and economic stagnation and leap into the future. We will also do our utmost to improve the industry's structure and establish a culture of safety so that construction sites can become safe workplaces trusted by the public."
