This project was initiated to address safety concerns raised by the aging arcade, which was installed in 2009, and to make the traditional market more comfortable for visitors. A total of 1.138 billion won was invested (570.6 million won from the provincial government, 519.85 million won from the city government, and 47.55 million won from private contributions). With this budget, the 100-meter-long, 800-square-meter roof and gallery windows were completely replaced, and electrical facilities were upgraded.
The project began after being selected in October 2023 for the Gyeonggi Province Traditional Market Facility Modernization Project competition. Following the detailed design and merchant briefing in 2024, construction commenced on May 26, 2025. After approximately two and a half months of work, completion was achieved on August 7.
About 50 people attended the ceremony, including Mayor Baek Kyunghyun, city and provincial council members, and representatives of the merchants' association. The event included a progress report, commemorative speech, congratulatory remarks, ribbon-cutting, and a tour of the market.
In his commemorative speech, Mayor Baek Kyunghyun stated, "With this arcade replacement, the traditional market has been reborn as a more comfortable and safer shopping space. We will continue to improve areas without arcades and actively support the revitalization of the traditional market and the strengthening of merchant competitiveness."
Park Kyuchang, president of the Traditional Market Merchants' Association, expressed gratitude to Guri City for its efforts to improve the market environment, and said, "The newly renovated arcade, awnings, and signs will provide a more convenient and pleasant environment for visitors to the market."

Along with the completion of this project, Guri City also finished the replacement of awnings and signs for 21 stores along a 60-meter section of Angollo 103beon-gil. The construction, which took place from July 29 to August 25, significantly improved the market's appearance and safety through the application of a unified design, painting, and lighting upgrades.
Additionally, Guri City secured 300 million won in special adjustment grants from Gyeonggi Province to promote the environmental improvement project for the No. 1 public parking lot. By November, the city plans to fully renovate the aging facilities, including waterproofing and repairing the rooftop floor, fixing drainage systems, and painting the exterior walls, thereby enhancing the convenience and safety of the parking lot, which serves an average of 600 vehicles and over 3,000 people daily.
