Cho Kyungtae to Jang Donghyeok: "A Misguided Leader Ultimately Destroys Himself and the Organization"

"If You Want to Meet Yoon Sukyeol, Step Down as Party Leader First"
"This Is Not the Traditional Conservative People Power Party That the Leader Can Control at Will"

Assemblyman Cho Kyungtae, who ran for the leadership of the People Power Party but was defeated, emphasized on the 26th that he "cannot stand by, even as the new leader, if Jang Donghyeok, the newly elected People Power Party leader, not only drives the party toward division but also leads it toward ruin."

On the afternoon of this day, Assemblyman Cho wrote on his social media account (Facebook), "Jang Donghyeok, who was elected as party leader by joining forces with those who support and defend former President Yoon Sukyeol-who was removed from the presidency due to an unconstitutional and illegal emergency martial law and is currently on trial as the ringleader of an insurrection-should not forget that he is now the representative of all People Power Party members, not just the representative of a particular faction," reiterating his point.

Assemblyman Cho stated, "Attempting to silence critical voices by labeling them as internal attacks, rather than embracing them, is a denial of a democratic party and a move toward a dictatorial party. Can such an attempt succeed?" He added, "Is it appropriate for someone who was elected by a narrow margin to immediately announce plans to meet with former President Yoon Sukyeol, who is currently on trial as the ringleader of an insurrection?"

He continued, "The vast majority of the public opposes former President Yoon Sukyeol's emergency martial law and agrees with his removal from office. Choosing a path that goes against the will of the people will ultimately drive the party into ruin," and warned, "A misguided leader ultimately destroys both himself and his organization."

He further stated, "If you intend to meet with former President Yoon Sukyeol, who is on trial as the ringleader of an insurrection, I hope you will step down as party leader and go in a personal capacity. Not only the majority of the public but also many party members insist that we must break away from former President Yoon. The People Power Party is not a traditional conservative party that the leader can control at will."

At a press conference on the same day, Leader Jang Donghyeok warned of possible expulsions, targeting lawmakers who supported impeachment, stating, "A decision is needed regarding those who still refuse to join the unified ranks and those who are driving the party toward division." He also reiterated his intention to meet with former President Yoon Sukyeol, as he had promised during the party convention.
