Changnyeong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on August 26 that the 8th "Changnyeong Onion Garlic Song Festival with Composer Sunghoon Park" will be held on a special stage at Changnyeong Public Stadium at 7 p.m. on September 6.
Now in its eighth year, the "Changnyeong Onion Garlic Song Festival" is jointly hosted and organized by Changnyeong County and MBC Gyeongnam to widely promote the excellence of Changnyeong's signature agricultural products, onions and garlic, and to provide local residents with opportunities to enjoy cultural experiences.

Changnyeong is the birthplace of onion cultivation and the largest garlic-producing region in the country, accounting for about 22% of the national production. In particular, Changnyeong garlic has gained nationwide recognition for its quality and excellence, as evidenced by the "Changnyeong Garlic Burger" released by McDonald's Korea, which is being relaunched for the fourth time this year due to strong consumer demand.
For this festival, eight of Korea's top amateur musicians have made it through fierce preliminary rounds to reach the finals. Spectacular performances are also planned, featuring invited artists such as Song Gain, the first winner of Miss Trot; Yang Ji-won, a rising star in trot music; and Shin Junghwa, a singer from Changnyeong.
The grand prize and gold prize winners will be awarded an honorary singer certificate. Visitors can witness firsthand which of the eight talented finalists will achieve their dream of becoming a singer. In addition, after the event, a prize drawing will be held for a chance to win generous gifts such as a kimchi refrigerator, TV, air purifier, and bicycle.
On the day of the event, for the convenience of attendees, two shuttle buses will operate from Jahagok Parking Lot (Changnyeong Girls' High School) and Sinchang Girls' Middle School to Changnyeong Public Stadium from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
A Changnyeong County official stated, "We hope for the enthusiastic interest and participation of residents and tourists, as the passionate performances by participants and guest artists, along with the chance to purchase Changnyeong's outstanding agricultural products at affordable prices, will make this a memorable event."
