Yeongdeok County Launches 'Living Population Project'... Settlement Program for Middle-Aged Residents

Providing Diverse Opportunities for New Careers and Activities in the Second Act of Life

Yeongdeok County in North Gyeongsang Province is launching the "Live as a Trekker for 2 Weeks" and the "Blue Road 3 Nights 4 Days Grand Journey" events as part of the "One City/County, One Specialized Living Population Project" to increase the local living population and encourage settlement in the region.

These events target middle-aged participants born between 1956 and 1979 who reside outside the county. Participants will take part in a "live-in" program that includes visits to major tourist attractions such as the Blue Road, as well as rural and fishing village experiences.

First, the "Live as a Trekker for 2 Weeks" program offers a variety of activities, including trekking with young people who have settled in Yeongdeok, meditation and wellness sessions at the Humanities Healing Center "Yeomyeong," hands-on experiences in local agriculture and fishing villages for those considering settling in Yeongdeok, and talent donation programs where middle-aged participants share their rich and diverse experiences and knowledge with local students in an engaging and accessible way.

Next, the "Blue Road 3 Nights 4 Days Grand Journey" features trekking along the entire Blue Road, visits to tourist sites that showcase the region's history and culture, and sunset and night sea trekking. These activities allow participants to fully enjoy Yeongdeok County's beautiful natural scenery and its charming, traditional culture.

Those interested in participating in the "Live as a Trekker for 2 Weeks" program will be selected through document screening and online interviews, with two sessions scheduled for September. For the "Blue Road 3 Nights 4 Days Grand Journey," due to early oversubscription, additional standby participants will be accepted, and a total of four sessions will be held from October to November.

County Governor Kim Kwangyeol stated, "Our county is an attractive city with an average monthly living population of about 300,000, making it a great place to stay. We will continue to promote a variety of programs and support projects to help middle-aged people take on new challenges and settle in the region."
