Preview of Artworks Before Official Opening on the 30th
Special Lecture by Artistic Director and Artist Talks Also Scheduled
The 2025 Jeonnam International Ink Art Biennale announced that it will operate a preview event on August 28 and 29, ahead of the official opening on August 30. This preview will introduce the theme and direction of the biennale in advance and provide an opportunity for communication between visitors and the art community.
Through the preview, visitors can deepen their understanding of the exhibition and enjoy the special experience of encountering the artworks before the official opening.
The preview is open to celebrities and influencers related to the arts, CEOs of other biennales, museum directors, and citizens invited to the opening ceremony.
This preview event is being held for the first time at this year's biennale, raising expectations among both the domestic and international art communities as well as the public.
Under the theme "Neighbors of Civilization," the biennale will feature 83 renowned artists from 20 countries, presenting a variety of artistic genres-including painting, installation, and media art-that reinterpret the philosophy and aesthetics of East Asian ink art in a contemporary context.
The exhibitions will take place in Mokpo, Jindo, and Haenam, and a range of side events are planned, including a pre-opening, a special lecture by the artistic director, artist talks, and hands-on programs.
Kim Hyungsoo, Secretary General of the Jeonnam International Ink Art Biennale, stated, "Through this preview, visitors will be able to experience the charm of ink art in advance and raise their expectations for the biennale."
The opening ceremony for the 2025 Jeonnam International Ink Art Biennale will be held on August 29 at the Mokpo Culture & Arts Center, and it will serve as a festive occasion for both domestic and international guests, as well as local residents. Starting with the opening ceremony, 83 artists from 20 countries will participate in exhibitions held at six venues-from August 30 to October 31-including the Gosan Yun Seondo Museum and Ttangkkeut Pilgrimage Literature Museum in Haenam, Sojeon Museum of Art and Namdo Traditional Art Museum in Jindo, and the Culture & Arts Center and Indoor Gymnasium in Mokpo.
