SK to Showcase Total Energy Solution at WCE 2025
Featuring Renewable Energy, Low-Carbon LNG, and More
All Group Affiliates to Participate... Innovative Technologies Also Unveiled
SK will introduce a "customized total energy solution" that encompasses everything from renewable energy to small modular reactors (SMRs) and battery energy storage systems (ESS) in response to the rapidly increasing energy demand in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).
On August 26, SK Innovation announced that it will participate in the "2025 World Climate Industry Expo (WCE)" to be held from August 27 to 29 at BEXCO in Haeundae-gu, Busan. This event, co-hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the International Energy Agency (IEA), and the World Bank (WB), will bring together more than 560 leading companies from around the world. This year's theme is "Energy for AI, AI for Energy."

At this exhibition, SK Innovation will present solutions to the power shortage facing AI data centers as a key focus. Data centers are faced with the challenge of securing large-scale eco-friendly energy in a stable and cost-effective manner. SK will highlight its customized supply model for the AI era by combining various energy sources and solutions, including renewable energy, low-carbon liquefied natural gas (LNG), hydrogen, SMRs, and ESS.
In particular, SK Innovation E&S will showcase its 5GW renewable energy pipeline, the largest in Korea, and the commercial operation achievements of the Jeonnam offshore wind farm Phase 1. SK Innovation E&S is an in-house independent company (CIC) that merged with SK Innovation last year and is engaged in LNG, renewable energy, and energy solutions businesses. The company will also share its experience supporting the "RE100" campaign, which is based on direct power purchase agreements (PPA) for 100% renewable energy use, through its exhibition booth. In addition, SK will unveil its LNG value chain, which covers everything from overseas gas field development to transportation, terminal, and power plant operations, as well as its plan for low-carbon LNG production linked to carbon capture and storage (CCS) at the Barossa gas field in Australia.
The hydrogen and SMR sectors will also be prominently featured. SK will introduce its strategy for expanding a liquefied hydrogen-based mobility ecosystem, building a clean hydrogen power generation value chain, and its current status of SMR technology collaboration with global companies such as TerraPower.
In the energy storage sector, SK On will exhibit its lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery-based ESS solution. The high-voltage module ESS, which has enhanced safety features such as thermal propagation prevention and a battery diagnostic system, will be presented as a key device to supplement the variability of renewable energy and improve the power stability of AI data centers.
SK Group will also showcase advanced technologies to support AI infrastructure. Notable examples include SK Hynix's fifth-generation high bandwidth memory (HBM), SKC's glass substrates, SK Enmove's immersion cooling technology for servers, and SK Telecom's AI data center infrastructure manager. An SK official stated, "We aim to provide sustainable energy solutions for the AI era through stable and efficient clean energy supply."
