Time Paris Launches First Global Pop-Up at Samaritaine
System Homme to Open Permanent Store at Galeries Lafayette Early Next Year
Hansome announced on the 26th that its fashion brands, 'Time Paris' and 'System Homme', have signed store opening agreements with two of Paris, France's leading department stores, Samaritaine and Galeries Lafayette.
Starting from the 30th, Hansome will launch Time Paris's first global pop-up store at Samaritaine Department Store for two months. Samaritaine is one of France's most iconic department stores, boasting a 150-year history. After being acquired by global luxury group LVMH, approximately 1 trillion won was invested in renovations, and the store reopened in 2021. It now houses a wide array of global luxury brands as well as emerging brands in the fashion industry that are attracting significant attention.
This pop-up marks the first official pop-up store by a Korean fashion brand at Samaritaine, as well as Time Paris's first global offline venture. A Hansome representative said, "The positive feedback we received from local fashion and retail professionals through Time Paris's exclusive presentations in Paris last year led to the opening of this pop-up store. The basement level 1 space hosting the pop-up is a prime location where global luxury brands such as Celine and Prada have previously held pop-ups."
In January next year, Hansome will also open a permanent store for its men's casual brand System Homme at Galeries Lafayette, France's largest department store chain. To expand its global sales network, Hansome holds exclusive presentations for global fashion and retail professionals twice a year, and last year opened its first global flagship store for System and System Homme in Paris's Marais district.
The opening of the permanent store was positively influenced by the success of the women's casual brand System's pop-up store, which ran for a year starting July last year at Galeries Lafayette's flagship Haussmann location. Despite competing with French brands Ami and Courreges, System achieved strong results, ranking among the top five in monthly sales on its floor. Although pop-up store contracts typically last three months, the System pop-up was extended as a long-term event. Hansome is also in discussions regarding System's permanent entry into the department store.
Hansome is the only Korean fashion company to have participated in Paris Fashion Week for seven consecutive years since 2019, making significant efforts to raise its global profile. In 2014, Hansome opened a Paris store for its multi-brand shop Tom Greyhound, gathering global fashion trends and building a network with local buyers. Recently, the Tom Greyhound Paris store was converted into System's first global flagship store, not only attracting new local customers in Europe but also serving as a global showroom. The System Paris store surpassed 10,000 cumulative visitors within three months of opening, and sales exceeded the target by over 130%.
Hansome plans to continue expanding its offline distribution network in Europe, starting with these store openings. The company is currently in discussions for regular entry into multiple department stores in France and is also negotiating wholesale agreements with several global retailers, including Harrods in the United Kingdom.
A Hansome representative stated, "Hansome's 40 years of leadership in the Korean fashion market and more than a decade of efforts to enter the global market are now bearing fruit. We aim to make Paris, France the launchpad for Hansome's transformation into a global fashion company and are preparing to expand further into North America, Asia, and beyond."
