On August 25, the Pocheon City government held a mid-term briefing session in the city hall policy meeting room to review the preparations for a successful festival. During this session, discussions focused on the growth potential of the drone industry and strategies to revitalize the local economy, while various ideas were shared to enhance the overall quality of the festival.

The "Pocheon Hantan River World Drone Festival," under the slogan "Drone, Y-NOT? Beyond Imagination!" is designed as a global drone festival showcasing everything that can be achieved with drones. It is a multifaceted event integrating technology, culture, and tourism.

The main program will feature the World Drone Light Show, DFL World Drone Racing, drone soccer, a drone conference, and exhibitions. In addition, a world food culture festival, camping fest, and music performances will be held, promoting Pocheon's vision as a "drone city" to the world.

The highlight of the World Drone Festival is the World Drone Light Show. A total of seven companies, including five from overseas and two from Korea, will participate, presenting eight performances.

The event aims to set a new Guinness record in Korea with up to 6,000 swarm drones. On the opening day, October 9, a special collaborative stage featuring beatbox artists Beatpella House (Yellai, Wing, Hellcat, Huckle, Heath) and the largest swarm drone performance in Korea will captivate the audience.

On the second day, the excitement will continue with a stage combining EDM and a drone show. On the third day, the band Leenalchi and the largest swarm drone collaboration in Korea will present a new interpretation of Korean beauty, which has recently gained global attention.

At the Pocheon Hantan River Gorge, the DFL World Drone Racing competition will be held for the first time in Korea against the backdrop of a natural canyon. Domestically developed 1M-class drones will be used, and over 40 professional athletes from 10 countries will participate.

The explosive speed and precise control of the large drones racing through the Hantan River Gorge will provide an exhilarating thrill for spectators. Visitors can experience the drone racing up close from the Y-shaped suspension bridge and Sky Bridge spanning the gorge.

Additionally, a national-scale drone soccer tournament will take place, with around 400 participants from semi-pro, university, military, and youth divisions. Spectators can look forward to a different kind of excitement and fun compared to traditional soccer.

During the festival, a drone conference will be held to explore the present and future of the drone industry. Drone experts and industry professionals will gather to share the latest technology trends and strategies for industrial development, engaging in in-depth discussions about the changes and possibilities drones will bring.

Furthermore, a drone exhibition featuring various companies and organizations will allow visitors to experience firsthand the latest drone models, equipment, and content incorporating cutting-edge technology. This will enable not only industry professionals but also citizens to see how drones are being used in daily life and across industries, confirming the current state and future of the drone industry.

In addition to the drone programs, a variety of side events will be held. The World Food Culture Festival will offer visitors a chance to sample diverse cuisines from around the globe, providing a special culinary experience for families and tourists alike.

At the Camping Festa, organized in collaboration with the outdoor brand Kovea, a unique healing space will be created where visitors can enjoy the autumn atmosphere. Guests can enjoy both camping and drone performances, making unforgettable memories.

In the evenings, K-music performances will further elevate the festival atmosphere. On the opening day, October 9, Lee Mujin, Jin Haeseong, and Dynamic Duo will take the stage. On October 10, Kim Dahyun, Giriboy, and Hyolyn will perform; on October 11, Soyou, Jang Minho, and Guckkasten; and on October 12, Lee Byungchan, Ulala Session, and Song Gain will present diverse performances that transcend generations and genres.

Baek Younghyun, mayor of Pocheon, stated, "The Pocheon Hantan River World Drone Festival will showcase the future value of the drone industry to the world and serve as a crucial milestone for Pocheon to emerge as a global drone city. I hope this festival will be an event where citizens and tourists can come together and enjoy, widely promoting Pocheon's charm and contributing to revitalizing the local economy."
