Jangseong County to Launch Hepatitis C Early Detection Program in September

Jangseong County to Launch Hepatitis C Early Detection Program in September Jangseong County Office building.

Jangseong County in South Jeolla Province announced on August 25 that it will launch the "Hepatitis C Early Detection Program" next month.

Hepatitis C is an infectious disease that is a major cause of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. It can be contracted through unhygienic medical procedures or by sharing unsanitary tools. Because there are no specific symptoms in the early stages of infection, regular screening is the best way to detect the disease early.

The cure rate is relatively high at 80%. The earlier the disease is detected and properly treated, the higher the chance of a full recovery.

The "Hepatitis C Early Detection Program" is designed to identify hepatitis C cases early and connect patients to treatment through proactive screening.

The screening will be conducted using rapid test kits for antibody testing, and all tests and consultations are free of charge. Any Jangseong County resident aged 20 or older can visit the Jangseong County Public Health Center to get tested.

If a positive result is confirmed, support will be provided, including guidance to medical institutions, health education, and monitoring of the individual's health status.

Kim Hanjong, Governor of Jangseong County, stated, "The purpose of this program is to identify asymptomatic carriers early and provide them with treatment opportunities," and added, "We hope for your interest and participation to help prevent the spread of infection in the community."
