On August 25, the Criminal Division 2 of the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office (headed by Chief Prosecutor Kim Heeyoung) announced that it had indicted Ms. A (57, female) and her son-in-law, Mr. B (in his 30s), on charges including attempted murder. In addition, Ms. C, Ms. A's daughter and Mr. B's wife, also in her 30s, was indicted without detention on charges of violating the Act on the Protection and Use of Location Information, as she was found to have participated in tracking the victim's location together with them.

Ms. A is accused of stabbing her husband, Mr. D, who is in his 50s, multiple times in the face and arms and attempting to kill him by severing his genital area with a weapon at a cafe in Ganghwa County, Incheon, around 1 a.m. on August 1. Mr. B is accused of participating in the attempted murder by restraining Mr. D with tape at the time.

Emergency responders who arrived at the scene after receiving a report transported Mr. D to the hospital, and it was reported that his life is not in danger. The report was made directly by Mr. D.

After receiving the case from the police on August 7, the prosecution conducted supplementary investigations, including digital forensics and analysis of communication and internet records, and confirmed that Ms. C, Ms. A's daughter, had tracked the victim's location together with the others through a private detective agency.

During the investigation, Ms. A reportedly claimed that she committed the crime because she suspected her husband of having an affair.

The prosecution believes that Ms. A committed the crime due to pathological jealousy, showing excessive obsession with her husband.

It has been reported that Ms. C is Mr. D's stepdaughter.
