Moot Dance Collaborates with Hungarian Gy?r Ballet for 'Mirror' Performance

Experimental Dance Series 'BE-MUT' Returns
International Collaboration with Gy?r Ballet
Exploring Modern Identity Through 'Mirror'
Performances at Sogang University and Daehakro Arts Theater

The dance arts organization Moot Dance will present the 4th 'BE-MUT' performance on September 12 and 17 at Sogang University Mary Hall Grand Theater and Daehakro Arts Theater Grand Theater.

BE-MUT is an original dance series led by Moot Dance and is the company's signature production. The program features experimental creative works by Moot Dance choreographers and an international collaboration performance, 'Mirror,' with the Hungarian Gy?r Ballet.

The September 12 performance at Sogang University Mary Hall Grand Theater will showcase original works by both emerging and established Korean choreographers. The lineup includes 'Spine of the Moon' by Oh Seunghee and Cho Sanghee, '0.45m Outside' by Baek Soyoung, 'The Most Silent Response' by Kim Yeeun, and 'Signal Burn' by Yoo Minjung.

At the September 17 performance at Daehakro Arts Theater Grand Theater, the Gy?r Ballet will present 'Mirror,' choreographed by Moot Dance Artistic Director Kim Jeonga, as well as 'Romance,' a new reinterpretation of 'KODALY' by choreographer Bellekei Laszlo. Although 'Mirror' has already premiered on European stages, this will be its first performance in Korea.

Artistic Director Kim Jeonga stated, "Through the depiction of humans reflected in the mirror, the work seeks to explore the identity and selfhood of modern individuals." 'Mirror' reflects the image of contemporary people who become obsessed with their own appearance, ultimately losing relationships with others and becoming isolated, reminiscent of Narcissus from Greek mythology. The performance highlights Kim Jeonga's attempt to transcend the boundaries between Eastern and Western dance languages, as Gy?r Ballet dancers incorporate the breathing and sensibilities of Korean dance into their movements. 'Mirror' has also been selected as an official invitation to the Seoul International Dance Festival (SIDance 2025).

The 4th BE-MUT performance has been selected for the 2025 Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture 'Art Creation Support Project' and is supported by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, the Embassy of Hungary, and the Liszt Institute Hungarian Cultural Center in Korea. Tickets for the September 12 performance at Sogang University Mary Hall Grand Theater are available through Nol Ticket, while tickets for the September 17 performance at Daehakro Arts Theater Grand Theater can be reserved on the ARKO·Daehakro Arts Theater website.
