The Geumhwasoon Patrol, operated by the Sejong Fire Headquarters, will conduct fire prevention consulting and safety inspections of mixed-use residential and commercial buildings in the region from August 25 to September 30.

According to the headquarters, the inspections will target 58 facilities that are classified as Grade 2 or higher in fire safety management and have basement floors. Mixed-use residential and commercial buildings combine residential and commercial spaces, and in the event of a fire, smoke and flames can spread rapidly, posing a high risk of casualties and property damage.

The Geumhwasoon Patrol plans to focus on checking whether emergency exits are blocked or closed, the operational status of key fire safety facilities such as receivers, fire pumps, and valves, as well as the management of exhaust ducts and grease filters in internal cooking facilities such as restaurants.

In particular, the inspections will be conducted in a consulting format that involves building managers, rather than focusing solely on detection and punishment. This approach aims to raise safety awareness among stakeholders and enhance their capacity for voluntary safety management.

Park Taewon, Chief of the Fire Headquarters, stated, "Mixed-use residential and commercial buildings combine multi-use facilities and residential spaces, so there is a high risk of mass casualties in the event of a fire. Through fire prevention consulting and inspections, we aim to alleviate public anxiety and create a safer living environment for citizens."
