At around 9:45 a.m. on August 24, a fire broke out at a food factory in Pyeongdong Industrial Complex, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju.
The fire department mobilized 20 pieces of equipment and 66 firefighters, bringing the blaze under complete control in about 30 minutes. The fire reportedly started in waste oil stored outside the building and then spread to the second floor.
The fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage. Considering the factory handles oil, they are continuing surveillance activities to guard against the possibility of reignition.
