Dong-Eui University Holds Industry-Academia Seminar on Busan-Type Housing Supply Strategy

Need to Shorten Redevelopment Project Timelines
and Focus on Demand-Driven Housing Supply Policies

This seminar, co-hosted and organized by the Dong-Eui University RISE Project Group, the College of Future Convergence, and the Graduate School of Real Estate, was held under the theme "Exploring the Path of Busan-Type Redevelopment Projects: The Future of Housing Built Together by Universities, Local Governments, and the Private Sector." More than 100 participants, including Busan citizens, public institutions, local government officials, and stakeholders from redevelopment projects, attended the event.

In his keynote presentation, Professor Oh Yoonkyung of Dong-Eui University's Department of Real Estate Development and Management addressed "Busan-Type Housing Supply Strategies and Implementation Tasks through Redevelopment Projects." He emphasized that "the number of new housing starts in Busan over the past three years has fallen below the 20-year average," and stressed the need for policies focused on shortening the duration of redevelopment projects-such as introducing a system for requesting the establishment of redevelopment plans and creating a one-stop review process-as well as diversifying housing supply methods beyond redevelopment projects and prioritizing supply policies for actual demand, including one- and two-person households.

The seminar continued with a comprehensive panel discussion and Q&A session moderated by Jeong Hoiho, Dean of the College of Future Convergence at Dong-Eui University. Panelists included Kim Donghyeong, CEO of Twin DNC; Kim Junki, Director of the Busan Western Branch of Korea Real Estate Board; Yang Seungho, President of the Busan Urban Redevelopment Association; Lee Hoyoung, Head of Urban Redevelopment Sales Team at Hyundai Engineering & Construction; and Jeong Minha, CEO of Jiin Plus Real Estate Jiin.
