Gyeongju APEC: Gyeongbuk National University Hospital Designated as Emergency Medical Consignment Hospital... "Establishing a Seamless Emergency Response System" A plaque ceremony for the designation of Gyeongbuk National University Hospital in Jung-gu, Daegu as the emergency medical consignment hospital for Gyeongju APEC is taking place.

Gyeongbuk National University Hospital, with its extensive experience and expertise as a regional emergency medical center, was evaluated as the optimal institution to support medical safety for large-scale international events.

The plaque ceremony was attended by Kim Sangcheol, head of the APEC Preparation Support Team, Yang Dongheon, president of Gyeongbuk National University Hospital, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ APEC Preparation Planning Team, and key hospital executives, reaffirming their commitment to close cooperation in establishing a robust APEC medical safety network.

During the summit, Gyeongbuk National University Hospital will oversee the overall coordination of medical resources and on-site medical operations, and will operate a comprehensive medical safety network through a collaborative system with nearby partner hospitals.

Yang Dongheon, president of Gyeongbuk National University Hospital, stated, “It is highly meaningful for our hospital to be designated as the emergency medical consignment hospital for the APEC Summit,” adding, “We will work closely with relevant agencies, including Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gyeongju City, to firmly support the safe hosting of the summit.”

Kim Sangcheol, head of the APEC Preparation Support Team, emphasized, “The success of the APEC Summit begins with thorough preparations to protect the health and safety of all participants,” and added, “The support team, together with Gyeongbuk National University Hospital and partner hospitals, will establish a seamless emergency medical response system.”

Meanwhile, ahead of the APEC Summit, the APEC Preparation Support Team has established a solid response foundation by signing agreements with 24 partner hospitals and forming a dedicated emergency medical team of seven specialists in cardiology, cerebrovascular, and severe trauma care.

In addition, during the summit, a multi-layered medical response system will be implemented, including the operation of three on-site clinics, deployment of 50 ambulances, and securing five transport helicopters. Through pre-simulation drills and inspections of medical resources, a system without medical gaps is being completed.

With this summit as a turning point, Gyeongju in Gyeongsangbuk-do is preparing to become a “global medical safety city,” and with its seamless emergency medical system and outstanding crisis response capabilities, the international credibility of Korea’s medical system is expected to rise even further.
