Additional Opportunity for Freshmen Who Missed the First Half Application
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam will accept additional applications for the "Changwon Freshman Support Fund" from September 1 to October 31, targeting freshmen who entered local universities in the 2025 academic year but were unable to apply during the first half of the year.
The Changwon Freshman Support Fund is a program that provides 1 million won per freshman annually (500,000 won each semester) to reduce the financial burden of tuition for young people and to strengthen the settlement conditions of local universities.
Those eligible for additional support are 2025 freshmen who graduated from high schools in Changwon (including those who passed the qualification exam) and entered local universities, and as of March 4 of this year, have been registered residents of Changwon for at least one year and are 34 years old or younger. However, students on leave of absence, those who have withdrawn or been expelled, and recipients of similar programs are excluded.
Applications can be submitted online through Government24 or by registered mail. Required documents include the application form, a copy of the resident registration, a high school graduation certificate, and a copy of the bank account. The city plans to verify eligibility throughout November and distribute the second half of the support fund in December.
Previously, a total of 2,068 students applied in the first half of the year, and 2,002 eligible students received a total of 1,001,000,000 won. This additional application period is a measure to support students who missed out due to omission or input errors during the first half application period.
Jung Sookyi, Director of the Department of Autonomous Administration, said, "This additional application period is intended to provide another opportunity for freshmen who missed the first half application," adding, "We will ensure that guidance and payment of the support fund proceed smoothly so that many freshmen can focus on their studies."
