Sangju City in North Gyeongsang Province is partnering with a local specialized high school to foster the "Gyeongbuk-style Meister High School." The city aims to build a virtuous cycle talent development model by combining local educational resources and industrial capabilities, allowing young people to learn, work, and settle in the region.

On August 22, Sangju City announced that it had signed a business agreement with Gyeongbuk Natural Science High School (Principal Jaeyoung Jung) at the Citizens' Room of City Hall to foster the Gyeongbuk-style Meister High School.
The Gyeongbuk-style Meister High School is an autonomous institution where local governments, education offices, industries, and specialized high schools collaborate to operate region-specific, industry-oriented curricula. The focus is on nurturing practical, professional talent that can be immediately utilized in the industrial field, moving beyond simple academic achievement.
Under this agreement, the two institutions will promote initiatives such as a curriculum partnership, the establishment of an employment support system, and the creation of sustainable governance.
In particular, they plan to strengthen specialized education centered on five departments that reflect the region's strengths: Equine Management, Equine Industry, Companion Animal Welfare, Companion Animal Grooming, and Pet Cafe Management.
Mayor Youngseok Kang of Sangju stated, "This agreement will broaden the foundation of cooperation with local schools and provide an opportunity to establish a customized employment support system connected to local industries through education tailored to each student's talents and aptitudes. We will do our utmost to help young people settle in the region based on what they have learned here."
