"Tailored Administrative Services for Each Region"
The administrative system of Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province, which became a special city on January 1 this year after maintaining a population of over one million for two consecutive years, will be reorganized into a system of four general districts next year.
On the 23rd, Hwaseong City announced, "The Ministry of the Interior and Safety approved the city's plan to establish general districts on the 22nd."
As a result, Hwaseong City can now begin preparations, such as securing temporary district office buildings. The new district office system is scheduled to launch in February next year. The four newly established districts will be Manse District (Ujeong-eup, Hyangnam-eup, Namyang-eup, Mado-myeon, Songsan-myeon, Seoshin-myeon, Paltan-myeon, Jangan-myeon, Yanggam-myeon, Saesol-dong), Hyohang District (Bongdam-eup, Bibong-myeon, Maesong-myeon, Jeongnam-myeon, Gibaedong), Byeongjeom District (Jinan-dong, Byeongjeom 1-dong, Byeongjeom 2-dong, Banwol-dong, Hwasan-dong), and Dongtan District (Dongtan 1-dong to Dongtan 9-dong).
As of July 31, the population by district (including resident foreigners) was approximately 286,000 in Manse District (24.5% of the city's population), 165,000 in Hyohang District (15.2%), 177,000 in Byeongjeom District (18.0%), and 420,000 in Dongtan District (42.2%).
The city plans to develop Manse District as a residential area supporting industrial complexes, a hub for new growth industries such as pharmaceuticals, bio, and automotive, and a tourism base through the promotion of marine, ecological, and cultural tourism industries. Hyohang District, which has seven universities, will be established as a center for industry-academia-research networks and a green tourism belt. Byeongjeom District will be developed as a tourist destination centered around Yunggeolleung and as a transportation hub centered around Byeongjeom Station. Dongtan District is set to become a future-oriented industrial economic city that harmonizes urban life with nature and leads the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
