Pohang Northern Fire Station announced that on August 22, it held a disbandment ceremony for the 119 Citizen Lifeguard Corps, which had worked to prevent casualties and respond to water-related accidents at summer recreation sites.
From July 12 to August 24, over a period of 44 days, the corps carried out various duties in the areas of Chilpo and Wolpo beaches in Pohang, including patrolling to prevent water safety accidents, removing potential hazards in advance, and providing first aid support.
The ceremony included a speech of encouragement from the fire chief, a session to hear feedback on their activities, and a meeting, all of which recognized and commended their efforts.
Fire Chief Kim Jangsoo stated, "Thanks to the dedication of our members, vacationers were able to enjoy a safe summer without casualties," and added, "I deeply appreciate your wholehearted commitment to preventing safety accidents."
