"I Will Always Remain True to My Original Intentions and Stand Together with Union Members"
Elected with Overwhelming Support, Securing 95% of the Vote
Lee Yongseol (age 56, Administrative Level 6) has been elected as the 8th Chairperson of the Daejeon City Government Employees' Labor Union. Lee Sungkyu (age 51, Industrial Level 6) has been named Secretary-General.
In the election for the 8th Chairperson and Secretary-General held on August 21, 1,144 out of 1,529 eligible voters participated, resulting in a turnout of 75%. Chairperson Lee received overwhelming support, winning 1,087 votes (a 95% approval rate). His term will run for three years, from September 26, 2025, to September 25, 2028.
Chairperson Lee, who ran unopposed as he did in the 7th term, has become the first chairperson in the history of the Daejeon City Government Employees' Labor Union to serve consecutive terms.
His main campaign pledges included: a strong labor union that works together with its members; the expansion of existing welfare benefits and the development of new welfare programs; and fulfilling a constructive monitoring and cooperative partnership role in city governance.
In his acceptance speech, Chairperson Lee expressed, "I sincerely thank all the union members for your support and encouragement," and added, "I will do my utmost to enhance the rights and interests of union members and contribute to the development of Daejeon City."
He continued, "I will carry on the initiatives pursued during the 7th term, while reflecting the needs of union members and adapting to the changes of the times, to build a dynamic and trusted union. I will always remain true to my original intentions and strive to be a labor union that stands together with its members."
