Issuance Rescheduled from September to November
Hopes for Stabilizing Daily Life and Revitalizing the Local Economy
On August 22, Gwangju Bukgu announced that it will raise the discount rate of its local currency, 'Bukkeumoney,' to 18%.
Bukgu had originally planned to issue Bukkeumoney worth 10 billion won before Chuseok in September. However, due to the overlap with the government's distribution of consumption coupons and the special discount on Onnuri gift certificates, the issuance has been postponed to November.
Additionally, as the government has included district-level local currencies in the scope of national funding support, the discount rate will be increased from the existing 10% to 18%.
Mayor Moon In stated, "With the highest discount benefit of up to 18% among Gwangju's districts, we aim to support residents' livelihoods and accelerate the recovery of the local economy."
