August 23 to October 11
90 Families to Participate
Strengthening Family Bonds and Expanding Lifelong Learning
Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) will operate the "Our Neighborhood Jarimteo Parent-Child Education" program for a total of 90 families, consisting of parents and children, at three "Our Neighborhood Jarimteo" locations in the county from August 23 to October 11.
This program is part of Busan City's "Lifelong Education Network Establishment Project" and was designed to respond to the increasing demand for lifelong learning due to the formation of new towns, as well as to expand learning opportunities for the middle-aged generation, specifically those aged 35 to 55, often referred to as the "sandwiched generation."
The education will take place at "Our Neighborhood Jarimteo," a community-linked care space utilizing unused spaces such as apartment complexes. Jarimteo is a facility operated with selection and support from the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education to reduce the burden of child-rearing and address the imbalance in care demand across different regions.
In particular, this program is significant in that it expands Jarimteo from a simple "child care space" into a "community learning center" where parents and children learn together.
The main curriculum includes: ▲ forming healthy eating habits through family cooking, ▲ strengthening social and emotional skills through picture book and scent journeys, and ▲ hands-on activities at weekend family workshops.
The county expects that this education will allow parents and children to experience the joy of learning together and strengthen family bonds. Furthermore, it anticipates that "Our Neighborhood Jarimteo" will establish itself as a customized lifelong learning model utilizing local unused spaces.
Governor Jung Jongbok stated, "We will transform Our Neighborhood Jarimteo from a simple care space into a community learning venue where families can learn and grow together," adding, "We will continue to actively support more residents so they can easily access lifelong learning opportunities close to home."
